I love the image of Jesus holding a lamb close to His heart.  Sheep are really dumb animals - much like humans!  Sheep have to be led to find food and water.  They require a lot of attention just to keep them safe and healthy and happy.  The image of Jesus tenderly holding one of those smelly dumb animals blesses me.

When our son told us he is gay, our whole world was turned upside down.  Things could have ended badly for our family, but God had other plans.  My image of God changed from “The Father” that I had always had, to “The Shepherd”.  Not only did God lead us through those first difficult days, and help us deal with those things that could have easily caused us to flee, He picked us up and held us close to His heart.  The one constant during that difficult time was the beating of God’s heart as He held us tightly.

Now our desire - our calling, really - is to share that heartbeat with others.  If you have struggled with homosexuality, especially when it comes to your faith, then you have come to the right place.  We want to help you see the enormous love God has for you regardless of whether you are gay, straight, or somewhere in between.  God’s love is unconditional, and we here at The Shepherd’s Arms will love you unconditionally, too!
